Eventually Calvin grew up and didn't need Hobbes anymore.
I did this for a battle over at the Satellite Soda forums. The topic was Destroying a Childhood memory. It was either this or SnakeEyes taking off his mask to reveal it was Gilbert Godfrey underneath all along but I don't think Gilbert references are cool anymore. Daily DeviationGiven 2007-01-19Having finally come to terms with living out the rest of my life as a perpetual child, forever clinging to toys of my childhood and the hope that cartoons will someday have the heart of Bugs Bunny again, DDing this heart-wrenching and subtly brilliant piece is proving to be both extremely difficult and something I can't do fast enough. The mission to "destroy a childhood memory" was certainly a success with Hobbes and its tight, sickly florescent-lit composition. Just between you and me, I like to think that Hobbes is still, even after all these years, warming his tiger tummy in the sunlight while waiting for his Calvinball partner to come home.
